Firstly, What is an Access Statement?

An Access Statement is a written, clear, accurate and above all honest description of our current facilities and the services we offer, to enable potential visitors to make an informed decision as to whether our accommodation meets their particular needs, especially from an access point of view.

From April 2007, an Access Statement is required as part of the quality grading assessment of the Tourist Inspection Scheme.
 
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based 2 bedroomed bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

 

Overview
Cleveland is a 1960’s detached bungalow, situated in a private close off Pound Street with sea views from the front elevations. Extensive work was completed in 2009 to modernise the property, creating 2 en-suite guest rooms, guest breakfast room, owners’ accommodation and paved off-road parking. The property is on one level, but has a total of 13 steps from the car park up to the front door (details below).

• Menus and guest information can be provided in large print by prior arrangement.
• Lyme Regis town centre is a 3 minute walk down the hill.
• Lyme Regis sea front and beach is a 5 minute walk down
the hill and then through the seafront gardens with paved paths.
• The neares
t railway station, approximately 5 miles away, is Axminster (to London Waterloo/Bristol/Exeter/Plymouth/Paignton). Taxis are usually available at the station.
• There are several local taxi companies, and we can supply contact numbers so that you can make a booking if required.
• The X53 bus stop is a 2 minute uphill walk away. This bus follows the coast between Exeter and Poole every 2 hours. There is also a local bus service every hour to Axminster and Bridport.
 

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be here to welcome you. Rooms are usually available from midday onwards, and we ask for arrival prior to 8.00 pm.
• Private off-road paved car parking is available in front of Cleveland.

No marked bays, but there is ample room for all guests' cars.
• We can assist guest with their luggage if required.

• Office telephone number and mobile telephone number displayed externally.

• 7 paved steps, each 1.7cm high, up from car parking area to level paved area 1.70 m wide. Further 6 paved steps, each 1.7 cm high, up to level paved area 4.20 metres by 3.50 metres.
• The front door has a step of 8.5cm high.

Main Entrance and Reception Area
• On entry, there is a hallway 1.77 wide metres by 5.15 metres long.
• On arrival, guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities are explained.
• Oak floor boards with rugs.
 
  Public Areas – Breakfast Room
• Breakfast is served in the guest dining room on the ground floor. There are no steps.

• There are 2 separate breakfast tables, each with 2 chairs without arms.


Public WCs
• Both bedrooms are en-suite. There is no public WC available.


Bedrooms
• There are 2 bedrooms, both on the ground floor.
• Tea and coffee facilities and bottled water are provided.
• We also provide a hair dryer, trouser press and ironing facilities in each bedroom.
• There is a folder in each bedroom which contains further information about the area and de
tails of emergency contacts including doctors and hospitals.
 

FRONT BEDROOM
• The door is 76 cm wide.

• Oak wood flooring.

• King size (1.5 metres/5' wide) bed with sheets and blankets.
• Television with remote control and teletext.
• Two chairs with arms are provided in the room.
• There is an ensuite shower room with door width 61 cm opening into the bedroom with wash hand basin and w.c.
• The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 9.5 cm.

REAR BEDROOM
• The door is 76 cm wide.

• Oak wood flooring.

• King size (1.5 metres/5' wide) bed with sheets and blankets.
• Television with remote control and teletext.
• Two chairs are provided in the room, one with arms, one without.
• There is an ensuite shower room with door width of 68 cm opening into the bathroom with wash hand basin and w.c.
• The shower cubicle has a step/edge of 9.5 cm.


Additional Information
• Mobile phone reception is generally good.
• We have wi-fi internet access.
• We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation. If you require more assistance for evacuating, please notify us on arrival e.g. hearing impairment.
• We are happy to refrigerate any medication.
• We are pleased to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us of these before your arrival.
• We are a no smoking establishment.
• Exclusively for adults only.
  We are unable to accept under 18s (including babies) or pets.

Hours of operation:   Hours flexible to business. We do take occasional days off, but generally we are open all year except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. 
 

The B&B is our home so is occupied 24 hours.
Office open 8.30 am to 8.00 pm (0800 – 2000)
